As the year 2023 wound down, the horror gaming scene on unified platforms in the United States showed varied performance across popular titles. Data from Sensor Tower provides a glimpse into the trends of downloads, revenue, and active users for these chilling experiences.
The Baby In Yellow, while not generating revenue in the initial weeks, saw a rise in downloads from 47K to 146K and a significant increase in weekly active users, jumping from 184K to 419K by the end of December.
Granny maintained a consistent download count, starting at 47K and rising to 81K in the final week. The game's active users also grew, from 213K to 289K, despite not reporting any revenue for the quarter.
Illumix, Inc.'s Five Nights at Freddy's AR saw a fluctuating revenue trend, with a peak of approximately $9.8K in the last week of December. Downloads for the game reached a high of 76K in October and active users peaked at 195K in the same month.
Playrix's Mystery Matters, a newer entry, showed strong financial performance with revenue growing from $99K to $344K by quarter's end. The game also saw a steady increase in downloads, reaching 42K, and active users, which grew to 97K.
Lastly, Hello Neighbor by tinyBuild LLC, experienced growth in revenue, ending at $6.9K, and in downloads, which surged to 57K during the holiday week. The game also witnessed an uptick in active users, finishing with 162K in the last week.
