In the fourth quarter of 2023, the top navigation apps in Europe showcased varying performance trends across downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a detailed look into the performance of Google Maps, Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, Moovit: All Transit Options, Yandex Maps & Navigator, and 2GIS: Offline Map & Navigation.
Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads peaking at approximately 837K at the end of September and then fluctuating throughout the quarter, ending the year around 707K. The active user base remained robust, with weekly active users hovering around 75M initially and slightly tapering off to approximately 71M by the end of December.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw a consistent download rate, starting the quarter with 389K weekly downloads and experiencing a peak of around 411K in the final week of December. The app's active user base showed a slight decline from 17M to approximately 16.7M over the quarter.
Moovit: All Transit Options demonstrated a notable revenue performance, peaking at $39.9K during the week of November 27. Weekly downloads showed a downward trend from 416K at the beginning to 228K by the end of December. Active users started at 3.7M in late September and dropped to around 2.7M by the end of the quarter.
Yandex Maps & Navigator had a steady revenue stream, peaking at around $3.2K in early December. Weekly downloads fluctuated, starting at 240K and ending at approximately 220K. Active users showed minor fluctuations, starting at 14.3M and ending slightly above 13.9M.
Lastly, 2GIS: Offline Map & Navigation experienced steady weekly downloads, beginning at 48K and maintaining around 45K by the end of December. Active users showed a small decline from 5.5M to approximately 5M throughout the quarter.
