In the fourth quarter of 2023, the top personal finance budgeting and planning apps in Norway displayed diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the performance of Splitwise, Monefy: Money Tracker, Buddy: Budget Planner App, Tricount - Split group bills, and YNAB.
Splitwise from Splitwise, Inc. saw its revenue gradually increase throughout the quarter, peaking at approximately $265 in the final week of December. Downloads fluctuated, reaching a low of around 166 in mid-November but recovering to 255 by the end of December. Meanwhile, weekly active users experienced a slight decline from 1.8K at the beginning of the quarter to 1.5K by mid-December, before a slight uptick to 1.6K in the final week.

Downloads showed a similar pattern, peaking at 224 in the last week of December. The app maintained relatively stable weekly active users, hovering around 1.1K throughout the quarter.
Buddy: Budget Planner App from Buddy Budgeting AB had a mixed revenue trend, starting at $194, dipping in mid-quarter, and then rising to $233 by the end of December. Downloads remained relatively stable, with a slight increase towards the end of the quarter, reaching 155. Weekly active users saw minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at 178, up from 196 at the start.
Tricount - Split group bills by Tricount showed consistent but modest revenue, with a peak of $61 in the final week of December. Downloads remained largely steady, with a slight increase towards the end of the quarter, reaching 120. Weekly active users also showed a gradual increase, starting at 822 and ending at 720, with some fluctuations in between.
YNAB from You Need A Budget LLC demonstrated a significant revenue peak of $980 in the week of October 23, before stabilizing around $423 towards the end of December. Downloads fluctuated, peaking at 170 in mid-December. Weekly active users showed an upward trend, starting at 941 and ending at 846, with a notable increase in mid-December.
