In the fourth quarter of 2023, the shopping app landscape in Latin America saw varied performances across the board. Sensor Tower provides detailed insights into these trends, focusing on downloads and active users.
Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire experienced a fluctuation in downloads, peaking at 2.3M in late October and then tapering down to 1.2M by the year's end. Weekly active users, however, showed a consistent upward trend from 6.5M to a peak of 8.5M in mid-December before closing the quarter at 8.3M.
For SHEIN - Shopping Online, downloads started strong at 1.9M and reached their zenith at 2.3M in mid-October. A gradual decline followed, ending at 843K in the final week of December. The weekly active users for SHEIN also saw a decrease from 32.6M to 27.9M by the quarter's conclusion.
Shopee Brasil - Frete Zero witnessed an initial surge in downloads, hitting a high of 2.1M in early November, then saw a decrease to 732K by the end of December. Their weekly active users showed more stability, starting at 31M and reaching a high of 34.9M before slightly receding to 31.9M.
Mercado Libre: Compras Online showed a steady increase in downloads from 939K to a peak of 1.5M in mid-November, then fell to just over 1M by the close of the quarter. The app's active users remained robust, with a slight growth from 40.9M to a peak of 44.5M, before ending the quarter at 41.3M.
Lastly, Amazon Shopping demonstrated an intriguing trend with revenue peaking at $93K mid-December and downloads spiking to 1.8M in the third week of November. Weekly active users saw a notable rise from 11.4M to a high of 14.6M in late November, then stabilized around 12.7M towards the quarter's end.
