The fourth quarter of 2023 saw significant activity among the top shopping apps in the United States. Below we detail the performance of the top five shopping applications on a unified platform, combining data from both iOS and Android. The data, sourced from Sensor Tower, provides insights into weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.
Throughout Q4 2023, Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire maintained impressive weekly download numbers, with a high of approximately 2.4M in early October and a slight dip to around 1.8M by mid-December. The number of weekly active users fluctuated, starting at roughly 25.5M in late September, peaking at 26.7M during Christmas week.
SHEIN - Shopping Online experienced varying weekly download trends, beginning the quarter with just over 1M downloads and seeing a decrease to around 0.6M by early December. Active users showed a gradual decline from approximately 16.7M in late September to 13.8M by Christmas week.
Walmart: Shopping & Savings saw a significant increase in weekly downloads, peaking at about 0.8M in the week leading up to Black Friday. Active users also grew, starting at around 10.8M in late September and reaching a high of approximately 12.8M in mid-December.
Amazon Shopping demonstrated strong financial performance with weekly revenue increasing from around $1.3M in late September to over $2.6M by Christmas week. Weekly downloads also showed growth, peaking at approximately 0.5M in late December. Active users remained consistently high, starting at around 45M and reaching over 50M during the peak holiday shopping period.
Shop: All your favorite brands saw a notable increase in weekly downloads, particularly during the holiday season, with a peak of around 0.6M in mid-December. Active users also grew significantly, starting at approximately 4.9M in late September and reaching a high of about 7.4M by late November.
