As the year 2023 came to a close, the undead genre continued to captivate gamers in the United Kingdom. Sensor Tower's latest data provides an overview of how the top five zombie-themed games fared on the unified iOS and Android platforms during the fourth quarter.
Last War:Survival saw a notable increase in weekly revenue, starting at $854K in late September and peaking at nearly $70M by Christmas. Downloads followed a similar upward trajectory, beginning at 380K and surging to 47K in the final week of December. The weekly active users also reflected growth, starting at 2.7M and escalating to a staggering 74M.
Plants vs. Zombies™, a timeless classic, presented a more stable pattern, with weekly revenue fluctuating slightly around the $400 mark and hitting a high of $530 by year-end. Downloads peaked at 12K during the holiday season, while active users saw a significant rise, reaching 55M in the last week of the quarter.
Its sequel, Plants vs. Zombies™ 2, demonstrated a similar revenue pattern, starting at $4.2M and increasing to $8.4M. The game's downloads also saw a holiday boost, ending at 8.8K. The active user base remained robust, with nearly 50M users engaged in December.
Doomsday: Last Survivors maintained a strong revenue stream throughout the quarter, beginning at $43M and peaking at $57M just before Christmas. However, downloads showed a downward trend, starting at 9.5M and tapering off to 7.6M. Weekly active users experienced a decline but still maintained a solid base of 15M by the end of December.
Age of Origins:Tower Defense took the lead in revenue with a consistent performance, starting at $137M and slightly increasing to $140M. Downloads saw a rise towards the end of the quarter, reaching 11K, while active users remained steady, closing at around 40M.
