The first quarter of 2024 saw interesting trends in the performance of the top 5 communication apps in Germany. Here’s a closer look at the data from Sensor Tower for WhatsApp Messenger, Telegram, Messenger, Snapchat, and WhatsApp Business.
WhatsApp Messenger saw a consistent rise in weekly downloads, peaking at 208K in early February. However, downloads declined to 154K by the end of March. Active users for the app also showed a steady increase from 50.8M in early January to 51.4M by the end of March.
Telegram had fluctuating weekly revenue, peaking at $8.5K in the week of February 19. Downloads reached a high of 176K in mid-January but dropped to 125K by the end of the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, ending the quarter at around 5.5M.
Messenger experienced a modest weekly revenue, peaking at $1.2K in the last week of March. Downloads saw significant growth, reaching around 138K in late February. Active users showed slight variations, ending Q1 at approximately 12.9M.
Snapchat generated substantial weekly revenue, peaking at $111K in late January. Downloads remained relatively steady, with a slight peak at 89K in mid-February. The app maintained a stable user base, with active users ending the quarter at around 10.5M.
WhatsApp Business showed a notable increase in downloads, peaking at 59K in mid-March. Active users grew steadily, starting at 1.0M in early January and reaching approximately 1.1M by the end of the quarter.
