Latin America's e-commerce space continues to evolve, and data from Sensor Tower reveals the latest user engagement trends for the top five shopping applications on the unified platform. Here's how they fared in the first quarter of 2024.
SHEIN - Shopping Online started the quarter strong with over 1.6M downloads in the first week, peaking at around 1.8M in the second week, and then saw a slight decrease to 1.5M by the end of March. Weekly active users showed a similar trend, initially at 32M, reaching a peak of over 33M, and closing the quarter with 31M active users.
Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire saw its downloads fluctuate, starting at approximately 1.3M, then experiencing a significant increase to 2.2M by the end of March. Weekly active users followed an upward trajectory from 8.6M to over 11M, indicating a growing user base.
Mercado Libre: Compras Online, a staple in the region, maintained a steady performance with downloads beginning at around 1.2M and ending the quarter just under 1M. Active users remained robust, starting at approximately 43M and slightly decreasing to 41M by the end of March.
Shopee Brasil - Frete Zero had a mixed quarter. Downloads saw a high of 1.2M in January, dipped to 825K in early February, and then moderately increased to 835K by March's end. The app's weekly active users saw a peak of 34M in late February, ending the quarter with around 33M.
Lastly, Amazon Shopping demonstrated a notable spike in downloads from 504K in early February to over 1.2M in the first week of March, before falling to 454K. Revenue showed consistent growth throughout the quarter, starting at around $81K and ending with just under $97K. Active users had a slight decline from 12.5M to 11.7M over the quarter.
