During the first quarter of 2024, the top 5 social networking apps in Bulgaria—Threads, Rakuten Viber Messenger, Facebook, WhatsApp Messenger, and Telegram Messenger—displayed notable trends in weekly downloads, revenue, and active users.
Threads saw a varied download pattern, starting strong at 29K in the first week of January but gradually declining to approximately 10K by late March. Despite the dip, weekly active users showed a consistent rise from 86K to over 152K throughout the quarter.
For Rakuten Viber Messenger, weekly downloads ranged between 9K and 17K, maintaining a fairly steady pace. Revenue peaked at around $1.8K in mid-March, and active users remained stable, fluctuating around 1.5M.
Facebook experienced a significant spike in downloads at the end of February, reaching 41K. Weekly revenue varied, peaking at $1.7K in early January. Active users consistently hovered around 3.7M, with a noticeable increase in late February to nearly 4M.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a steady download rate, averaging around 13K per week. Revenue stayed minimal, with slight fluctuations. However, active users demonstrated a positive trend, growing from 1.2M to about 1.3M by the end of March.
Telegram Messenger had a consistent performance in weekly downloads, averaging around 10K. Revenue peaked at nearly $2K in mid-February. Active users showed stability, remaining close to 340K throughout the quarter.
