In the second quarter of 2024, the Android shopping app landscape saw varied performances among top players in the United States. Here's how the top 5 shopping apps fared according to Sensor Tower data.
Temu: Shop Like a Billionaire experienced a surge in downloads, starting the quarter with 445K and peaking at over 1M in mid-April. The trend slightly fluctuated, concluding the quarter with an impressive 851K downloads. Weekly active users followed a similar upward trajectory, initiating at 9.3M and climbing to nearly 11M by the end of June.
SHEIN-Shopping Online downloads saw a peak of 631K in the first week of April, followed by a general decline with minor recoveries, ending the quarter at 364K. Active users remained robust, starting at 2.9M and experiencing a steady increase to reach approximately 3.3M weekly active users by the quarter's end.
Walmart: Shopping & Savings maintained a steady download count, hovering around 150K throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users showed more volatility, with an initial 6.6M, dipping mid-quarter, and then experiencing growth to peak at around 7.2M in late June.
AliExpress downloads began at 121K and saw a decline over the quarter, finishing at 85K. The app's active users had a modest start at 2.3M, dipped to just under 2M, and then rebounded to over 2.2M in the final week of June.
Amazon Shopping generated substantial revenue, starting the quarter with $2.3M and reaching highs of over $3.1M in mid-May. Downloads for Amazon stayed consistent, with a slight upward trend from 98K to 107K. Active users showed a steady increase from 8.8M to just over 9M by the quarter's conclusion.
