In the second quarter of 2024, the tower defense genre has shown varied performance across the top five iOS games in the United States. Data from Sensor Tower highlights the trends in downloads, revenue, and active users.
Plants vs. Zombies™ saw a decrease in weekly revenue, starting the quarter at $196K and ending at $61K. Downloads dipped from 1.8M in the first week to 1.3M by the end of the quarter, while weekly active users also saw a downward trend from 10.5M to 8.5M.
The sequel, Plants vs. Zombies™ 2, experienced a similar pattern with revenue falling from $1.1M to $262K. Downloads decreased initially but saw a slight uptick towards the end, with 2.1M in the first week and 1.3M in the last. Weekly active users also declined from 17.8M to 15.3M.
Primal Conquest: Dino Era had a unique trajectory, as it was released at the start of the quarter. It did not generate revenue in the first two weeks but peaked at $254K by the end. Downloads reached a high of 1.9M in early May but dropped to zero by the quarter's end. Active users peaked at 1.1M and settled at 238K.
Rush Royale: Tower Defense TD showed fluctuations in revenue, peaking at $1.5M in mid-June. Downloads remained relatively stable, hovering around the 400K mark, while weekly active users increased from 2.5M to 3.2M.
Lastly, Kingdom Guard:Tower Defense TD saw its revenue spike in mid-April at $1M but later stabilized around $662K. The game had negligible downloads until a surge in June, ending the quarter with 776K. Weekly active users grew significantly from 154K in early April to 1.4M by the end of June.
