In the second quarter of 2024, the top 5 free-to-play games in the United States demonstrated significant activity and engagement across both iOS and Android platforms. Here’s a closer look at their performance based on data from Sensor Tower.
Roblox continued its strong presence with notable figures throughout the quarter. Weekly revenue saw fluctuations, starting at approximately $13.7M in early April, experiencing a dip to around $10.7M in early May, and eventually climbing back up to $14.8M by the end of June. The game also showed a consistent increase in weekly downloads, peaking at 675K in mid-June. Active users grew steadily from 30.8M at the beginning of April to 34M by the end of June.
Squad Busters had a remarkable entry into the market with a significant revenue spike to $2.9M by the end of May, stabilizing around $1.4M by the end of June. The game saw an initial surge in downloads, reaching 4.5M in late May, and maintaining a steady flow with around 256K weekly downloads by the end of June. Active users mirrored this trend, peaking at 3.2M in late May before stabilizing at around 1M towards the end of the quarter.
Block Blast! exhibited consistent growth in weekly downloads, starting at 328K in early April and rising to 503K by the end of June. The game also maintained a steady number of active users, with figures increasing from 1.7M to 2M over the quarter.
MONOPOLY GO! saw strong revenue figures, beginning at approximately $38M in early April, experiencing some fluctuations, and ending at $27.7M in late June. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, averaging around 360K, with a peak of 431K in mid-June. However, active users showed a slight decline from 1.65M at the start of April to about 1.25M by the end of June.
Brawl Stars maintained robust revenue performance, peaking at $5.7M in late April and stabilizing around $4.5M by the end of June. Weekly downloads showed an initial spike to 613K in early May, then averaged around 340K towards the end of the quarter. Active users saw a consistent trend, starting at 7.9M in early April and maintaining around 9.7M by the end of June.
