In Q2 2024, the top 5 investing and financial management apps in South Africa showed varied performance trends in terms of downloads, active users, and revenue. Here's a closer look at how each app fared on a unified platform.
Cryptomania —Trading Simulator from Edusystems OU had a mixed quarter. Weekly downloads started strong at around 28K in early April but gradually declined to approximately 17.5K by the end of June. Despite the fluctuating downloads, weekly revenue saw peaks and troughs, with the highest revenue of about $162 in early May. Active users also showed a downward trend, starting from 69.5K in April and ending at around 58.8K in June.
The Octa trading app by Octa Markets Inc. experienced notable fluctuations in performance. Downloads peaked at 29.2K in the first week of April, followed by a decline to around 14.6K by mid-June. Active users similarly fluctuated, starting at 51K and dipping to around 42.4K towards the end of the quarter.
MetaTrader 5 — Forex, Stocks from MetaQuotes Software Corp. maintained a relatively stable performance in terms of downloads and active users. Downloads hovered around 16K to 20.5K throughout the quarter. Active users showed a steady increase, reaching about 101K by the end of June.
Pocket Broker - trading by Pocket Investments LLC saw a significant rise in downloads, starting at about 14.8K in early April and hitting a peak of approximately 22.2K by the end of June. The app's active users also saw a notable increase, from 29.5K in April to around 51.4K in June.
Lastly, MetaTrader 4 Forex Trading from MetaQuotes Software Corp. had a stable performance in downloads, ranging between 11.5K to 15.7K throughout the quarter. Active users fluctuated slightly but remained around the 50K mark, ending at approximately 51.1K in June.
