In the second quarter of 2024, the personal finance app landscape continued to show varying trends in user engagement and financial performance. Below is a snapshot of how the top five budgeting and planning applications fared on the unified platform, as reported by Sensor Tower.
Splitwise saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, with the highest peak at $453K in early June. Downloads moved in a similar pattern, with the highest at roughly 1M in the first week of April. Weekly active users started strong at 5.1M but dipped to around 4.5M by the end of the quarter.
YNAB experienced a notable spike in revenue in early May, reaching $231K. Its downloads, however, remained low throughout the quarter, peaking at 86K in late April. Active users showed some resilience, with a high of 129K in early May before settling to 109K by June's end.
Spendee Money & Budget Planner generated its highest weekly revenue of $114K in mid-May. Downloads saw a peak of 167K in the first week of April, while active users reached a high of 568K towards the end of April, eventually declining to 515K.
Monefy: Money Tracker showed revenue peaks at $98K in early May and $95K in mid-June. Downloads peaked at 91K in late April, with active users hovering around the mid-400Ks throughout the quarter, ending slightly down at 398K.
Money Manager (Remove Ads) had its revenue moving between $37K and $67K, with a notable increase in downloads to 387K in early June. Active users showed a significant jump to 1.9M in the same period, although there was a decline to 1.5M by the quarter's close.
