The second quarter of 2024 has been a fascinating period for roguelike games in Africa. Here, we analyze the performance of the top 5 games in this category, with data provided by Sensor Tower.
Diablo Immortal from Blizzard Entertainment experienced a noticeable fluctuation in weekly revenue, starting at around $20.8K in early April and dipping to $9.2K by early May. However, it saw a resurgence, peaking at approximately $18.1K in mid-June. Weekly downloads showed a steady climb, beginning with 518 downloads in early April and reaching 1.6K by mid-June. The game’s weekly active users mirrored this trend, increasing from 5.9K to 7K over the quarter.
ASTRA: Knights of Veda by HYBE IM Co.,Ltd. faced a steep decline in performance. Weekly revenue started strong at $14.8K in the first week of April but dropped sharply to just $176 by the end of June. Downloads also plummeted from 2.9K in early April to single digits by mid-quarter. Active users followed a similar pattern, decreasing from 2.7K to negligible numbers by the end of the quarter.
RAID: Shadow Legends from Plarium Global Ltd showed relatively stable performance. Weekly revenue varied between $6.4K and $10.7K, with a notable peak in late May at around $10.2K. Downloads fluctuated but remained robust, ranging from 3K to 6.5K. The game maintained a strong base of active users, starting at 13.5K in early April and concluding the quarter with 13.1K.
Hero Wars: Alliance RPG by Nexters Global LTD demonstrated significant growth. Weekly revenue peaked at $11.5K in mid-May and remained strong throughout the quarter. Downloads surged dramatically, reaching nearly 29K by the end of June, up from 16.6K in early April. Active users also showed a healthy increase, growing from 72.9K to 96.7K over the quarter.
AFK Arena from Lilith Games had a mixed performance. Weekly revenue fluctuated, peaking at $7.9K in late April but generally trending downward towards $3.3K by the end of June. Downloads saw a significant spike in June, reaching 2.7K from a low of 48 in late May. Active users increased from 1.3K in early April to 3.6K by mid-June.
