In the second quarter of 2024, the top 5 social networking apps in the Netherlands, based on data from Sensor Tower, exhibited varied performance metrics across downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
Threads from Instagram, Inc. saw fluctuating download numbers, starting at approximately 56K in early April and ending at about 31K by late June. Weekly active users for Threads increased steadily, peaking at around 785K in early June and then slightly declining to 735K by the end of the quarter.
ten ten - close friends only experienced a significant spike in downloads mid-April, reaching about 113K, but saw a sharp decline to around 3.7K by late June. Weekly active users also showed a downward trend from a peak of approximately 166K in late April to around 80K by the end of June.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a relatively stable download rate, starting at around 39K in early April and dropping to 22K by late June. The app had a consistent user base, with weekly active users hovering around 14M throughout the quarter, peaking at approximately 14.1M in the final week of June.
Telegram Messenger exhibited a steady download pattern, with numbers ranging from 24K to 33K. Revenue for Telegram showed minor fluctuations, peaking at around $10.5K in late June. Weekly active users remained stable, averaging around 1.6M throughout the quarter.
Facebook saw a consistent download rate, starting at approximately 25K in early April and slightly decreasing to around 20K by late June. Revenue for Facebook peaked at around $12K in early June. Weekly active users remained robust, averaging around 7.7M throughout the quarter.
