In the second quarter of 2024, the social networking landscape in Panama showed dynamic shifts across the top five apps. Data from Sensor Tower highlights the performance trends in downloads, revenue, and weekly active users for WhatsApp Messenger, Telegram Messenger, Facebook, Threads, and Google Meet.
WhatsApp Messenger demonstrated consistent engagement, maintaining around 1.87M weekly active users throughout the quarter. Downloads peaked at 14.2K in mid-April but saw a gradual decline towards the end of June, stabilizing at approximately 9.3K. Revenue showed minor fluctuations, peaking at $32 in early June.
Telegram Messenger maintained a steady user base with weekly active users hovering around 205K. Downloads fluctuated more significantly, peaking at 15.6K in late May. Revenue experienced a peak of $673 in late April but generally ranged between $350 and $520 throughout the quarter.
Facebook continued to be a dominant platform with weekly active users consistently around 740K. Downloads remained stable, averaging around 13.5K each week, with minor increases and decreases. Revenue peaked at $419 in late April, with other fluctuations ranging between $270 and $400.
Threads exhibited notable growth in weekly active users, starting at 142K and reaching a peak of 220K in early June. Downloads also saw an upward trend, peaking at 9.6K in early June. Revenue data for Threads was not available.
Google Meet had a relatively smaller user base compared to the other apps, with weekly active users around 6K. Downloads remained steady, averaging around 1.2K per week. Similar to Threads, Google Meet did not generate revenue during this period.
