In the third quarter of 2024, communication apps on the Android platform in Latin America showed varied performance in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the top five apps in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence in the region with weekly downloads initially at 1.7M, experiencing a peak of 2.3M in August before settling at 1.3M by the end of September. The app's active user base consistently grew from 289M to 293M over the quarter.
Telegram saw a steady increase in weekly revenue, reaching approximately $52K by the end of September. Weekly downloads fluctuated, starting at 919K, peaking at 1.3M in mid-August, and closing the quarter at 796K. Active users remained relatively stable around 23.3M to 23.5M throughout the period.
WhatsApp Business showed a notable rise in weekly revenue, climbing to about $30K by the end of September. Downloads hovered around 770K to 890K, while active users experienced slight fluctuations, ending the quarter with approximately 27.6M.
Snapchat recorded modest revenue growth, peaking at around $1.6K in late September. Downloads varied, with an initial count of 768K, peaking at 943K mid-August, and settling at 760K by the end of the quarter. Active users exhibited some decline, ranging from 75.5M to 74.0M.
Messenger faced a decrease in weekly downloads from 852K to 694K over the quarter. Revenue saw a slight dip, ending at about $103. Active users also declined, moving from 53.4M to 51.0M.
