In the third quarter of 2024, food delivery apps in Africa demonstrated varied performance in terms of downloads and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at the top five food delivery services on the Android platform.

talabat: Food, grocery & more showed a consistent pattern in its weekly downloads, starting with around 35K in early July and peaking at approximately 40K by early September. The app maintained strong user engagement, with weekly active users fluctuating slightly but remaining above 880K throughout the quarter.

Glovo: Food & Grocery Delivery experienced notable growth in downloads, especially towards the end of September, reaching a high of about 54K. Its weekly active users also increased, with a significant jump from 521K in July to around 596K by the end of the quarter.

Breadfast: Groceries And More observed a remarkable increase in downloads, starting from around 9.3K in early July and peaking at approximately 44K in early September. Active users mirrored this trend, rising from about 18K to nearly 49K over the quarter.

Uber Eats: Food Delivery maintained a steady download rate, with numbers ranging from 19K to 26K. Its active user base remained stable, averaging around 320K throughout the quarter, with a slight increase towards the end.

Lastly, Mr D - Groceries & Takeaway saw fluctuating download numbers, beginning at 24K and reaching 29K by the end of September. Active users showed a positive trend, increasing from 260K to approximately 275K during the same period.
