The third quarter of 2024 saw notable trends in the performance of the top investing and financial management apps on Android in South Africa. According to Sensor Tower data, these apps experienced varying patterns in downloads, active users, and revenue.
Cryptomania —Trading Simulator by Edusystems OU showed a fluctuating revenue trend, peaking at around $180 in the final week of September. Weekly downloads witnessed a significant increase mid-quarter, reaching over 45K in the week of August 19, before settling to approximately 16K by the end of September. Meanwhile, active users remained relatively stable with a peak of nearly 67K in mid-August.
MetaTrader 5 — Forex, Stocks from MetaQuotes Software Corp. maintained a consistent download rate, averaging around 15K weekly. Active users displayed a mild upward trend, closing the quarter with about 88K users.
MetaTrader 4 Forex Trading also from MetaQuotes Software Corp., experienced a steady download decline, starting at approximately 13K in early July and tapering to about 8.6K by the end of September. Active user numbers fluctuated, peaking at over 44K in late July and settling around 35K by quarter-end.
Pocket Broker - trading by Pocket Investments LLC saw a fairly stable download trend with minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at about 21K. Active users increased steadily, reaching nearly 72K by the last week of September.
Pocket Option, also by Pocket Investments LLC, experienced a significant spike in downloads in early August, peaking at approximately 34K, before declining sharply to around 1.6K by the end of September. Active users followed a similar pattern, concluding the quarter at about 24K.
