In the third quarter of 2024, the top music and podcast apps on the Android platform in Russia showcased varied performance trends. Here's a closer look at their downloads and active user metrics:
Yandex Music, Books & Podcasts, from Direct Cursus Computer Systems Trading LLC, experienced a consistent increase in weekly downloads. Starting at just over 100K downloads in early July, it peaked at approximately 131K by mid-August before settling around 111K by the end of September. Its weekly active users saw a steady climb from 13.9M in early July to over 15M by the end of the quarter.
VK Music: playlists & podcasts also showed dynamic trends in downloads, starting at 68K and peaking at 99K in mid-August. By the end of September, downloads were at 82K. Active users increased from 2.3M in July to approximately 2.4M by the end of September.
Shazam: Find Music & Concerts, developed by Apple Inc., maintained a stable download pattern, starting at 61K and reaching a high of 66K in mid-July. By the end of September, downloads were around 57K. Its active users fluctuated slightly, beginning at 2.3M in early July, dipping to 2.2M in early September, and recovering to 2.2M by the end of the quarter.
Zvuk: HiFi music, podcasts saw a varied download trend, with an initial increase from 53K to 72K by mid-July, followed by a decline, ending the quarter at about 52K. Active users started at 265K, peaked at 288K mid-July, and ended at 256K in late September.
Finally, МТС Музыка: песни, подкасты showed a positive trend in downloads, beginning at 30K and reaching 58K by the end of August, closing the quarter at 50K. Active users rose from 194K in early July to 246K by the end of September.
