In the third quarter of 2024, the dragon-themed gaming category on iOS in the United States showcased diverse trends in downloads, revenue, and user engagement. Here's a closer look at the performance of the top five games in this category, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Merge Dragons! by Gram Games saw its weekly revenue fluctuate, peaking at around $650K towards the end of August. The game started the quarter with approximately 29K downloads per week, which gradually decreased to about 17K by the end of September. Meanwhile, weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 275K throughout the quarter.
Frost & Flame: King of Avalon from FunPlus International AG maintained steady revenue, averaging around $200K weekly, with a notable dip to $161K in the last week of September. Downloads showed a positive trend, starting from 2.4K and rising to nearly 5K by the end of the quarter. The game experienced fluctuations in active users, ranging from 33K to 43K weekly.
Call of Dragons, published by Farlight Games, exhibited a mixed performance. Weekly revenue varied, with a high of $240K in mid-July and a low of $145K in early September. Download numbers remained relatively stable, around 5K to 6K weekly, while active users saw a slight dip from approximately 34K to 32K by the end of the quarter.
Dragonscapes Adventure by DianDian Interactive Holding experienced a decline in revenue, starting at $208K in early July and dropping to $105K by the end of September. Downloads also decreased from about 8.7K to 2.2K during the quarter. Active user numbers followed a similar downward trend, falling from 118K to 82K.
Finally, Dragon City - Breed & Battle! from Socialpoint started the quarter with a revenue of $127K, fluctuating throughout but ending on a high note at $131K. Downloads peaked at 30K in early July, then tapered off to around 18K by September. Despite these fluctuations, the game maintained a robust active user base, averaging around 500K weekly.
