In the third quarter of 2024, the air travel app market in Australia saw notable trends in downloads and user engagement across both iOS and Android platforms. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into the performance of the top five air travel apps in the region.
Virgin Australia displayed a consistent pattern in downloads, starting at around 18K in early July and peaking at 25K in early August. Weekly active users mirrored this trajectory, beginning at 53K and climbing to 61K by mid-August.
Qantas Airways maintained a robust download rate, with figures oscillating between 16K and 19K throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users consistently hovered around the 100K mark, reaching a peak of approximately 105K in late August.
Jetstar experienced a steady increase in downloads, culminating in about 15K by the end of September. Active users of the app showed a gradual rise, growing from 21K to 23K over the same period.
Flightradar24 | Flight Tracker saw revenue fluctuations, peaking at $16K in early September. Downloads remained stable, ranging from 10K to 12K, while weekly active users increased slightly from 47K to 48K.
Lastly, Velocity Frequent Flyer showed moderate download numbers, with a peak of 10K in early August. The app's active user base grew from 34K to 36K by mid-September.
