In the third quarter of 2024, the communication app landscape in Hungary showcased varied performance trends across the top five apps. According to data from Sensor Tower, these apps demonstrated unique patterns in downloads, revenue, and user engagement on a unified platform.
Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. exhibited fluctuating weekly revenue, starting at $55 and peaking at $94 in mid-August before stabilizing around $36 by the end of September. Weekly downloads saw a peak in early August at approximately 20.9K, followed by a gradual decline to 14K by the end of the quarter. Active users maintained a strong presence, starting at 2.58M and slightly increasing to 2.63M.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a steady download rate, with weekly figures hovering around 13.5K to 15.9K. The app showed a gradual decline in active users, from an initial 1.76M to 1.67M by the end of September, despite no recorded revenue throughout the quarter.
likner - Chat without pictures, a local favorite from UNDECAGON, saw its weekly revenue peak at $2.7K in early August before settling around $1.9K. Downloads initially surged to over 11K in late July, followed by a decline to 4.7K towards the quarter's end.
Snapchat from Snap Inc. experienced a consistent increase in revenue, reaching nearly $4.9K in mid-September. Download trends fluctuated, peaking at 8.6K in early August before decreasing to 6.6K by the quarter's close. The active user base remained relatively stable, ending the quarter with around 985K users.
Rakuten Viber Messenger showed a steady rise in revenue, starting at $1.1K and climbing to $2K by September's end. Downloads remained stable, with figures ranging from 7.5K to 8.3K. The app's active user count saw a slight increase from 2.27M to 2.34M over the quarter.
