In the third quarter of 2024, Italy's communication app landscape was dominated by WhatsApp Messenger, Telegram, Messenger, Snapchat, and Azar: Video Chat & Meet People. Here's a closer look at their performance metrics during this period, based on data from Sensor Tower.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads fluctuating between approximately 63K and 94K. The app consistently held a high level of engagement, with weekly active users growing from around 33M to over 34M by the end of the quarter.
Telegram experienced a notable increase in weekly revenue, starting at about $22K and peaking at nearly $46K. Downloads were steady, ranging from 62K to 91K, while active users hovered around 11M, showing a slight upward trend towards the end of the quarter.
Messenger saw modest revenue figures, with weekly earnings ranging from $236 to $539. Its download numbers remained stable, mostly between 37K and 48K, and active users showed a slight decline from 12.3M to 11.9M.
Snapchat generated weekly revenue between $3.6K and $6.7K. Downloads varied, peaking at over 52K, while active users saw a slight decline from 5.6M to around 5.7M throughout the quarter.
Azar: Video Chat & Meet People showed robust revenue performance, ranging from $61K to $70K. Downloads fluctuated, with a peak of nearly 40K in late September. Active users increased significantly, reaching over 200K by the quarter's end.
