In the third quarter of 2024, Italy's top finance applications on a unified platform demonstrated varied performance trends, as captured by Sensor Tower data. Each of the top five apps—Revolut: Send, spend and save, Postepay, PayPal - Pay, Send, Save, PosteID, and Poste Italiane—showcased unique download and active user patterns.
Revolut: Send, spend and save saw a consistent rise in weekly downloads, beginning with 50K in early July and peaking at over 82K by the end of September. Its weekly active users mirrored this growth, increasing from approximately 875K to nearly 993K, indicating a robust engagement with the app throughout the quarter.
For Postepay, downloads fluctuated with a notable spike to 63K in late August. Active users remained strong, growing steadily from around 2.1M at the start of the quarter to over 2.25M by September's end, reflecting its sustained popularity among users.
PayPal - Pay, Send, Save experienced a moderate increase in downloads, starting from 42K in July and reaching nearly 49K by the end of September. Active users rose from approximately 1.89M to 2.16M, showing a gradual but consistent user engagement.
PosteID had an interesting trajectory with downloads initially decreasing but then recovering to exceed 56K in mid-September. Active users showed a significant rise from about 1.54M in mid-August to over 2.52M by the end of the quarter, indicating a strong recovery in user engagement.
Finally, Poste Italiane maintained a steady download rate, ending the quarter with approximately 47K weekly downloads. Its active user base saw a slight increase, from 150K in early July to 161K by the end of September, suggesting stable user retention.
