In the third quarter of 2024, the top maps and navigation apps in Europe displayed varied performance trends across downloads and active users, according to data from Sensor Tower.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showed a notable peak in weekly downloads, reaching approximately 693K in mid-August. However, downloads gradually declined towards the end of September, settling around 410K. In terms of active users, the app maintained strong engagement with a high of over 20M users in mid-August, although this number tapered to around 18M by the end of the quarter.
Uber - Request a ride experienced relatively stable weekly downloads, fluctuating slightly but generally remaining above 550K. The app's active user base saw a resurgence towards the end of the quarter, with numbers climbing back to approximately 11.6M after a mid-quarter dip.
Bolt: Request a Ride witnessed a consistent decline in weekly downloads throughout the quarter, starting at over 550K and dropping to around 446K by the end of September. Active user numbers also showed a similar trend, ending the quarter with roughly 3.2M users, despite some fluctuations in between.
Moovit: Bus & Train Schedules saw an impressive increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $38K at the close of September. Downloads rose in early September, peaking at over 340K before stabilizing around 293K. Active users also rebounded strongly, reaching over 3.3M by the end of the quarter.
Yandex Go: Taxi Food Delivery experienced a downward trend in downloads, starting at 282K and declining to around 229K by the end of the quarter. Despite this, active user figures remained relatively stable, hovering around 6.1M throughout September.
