During the third quarter of 2024, the top maps and navigation applications in the United Kingdom demonstrated notable trends in weekly downloads and active user engagement across a unified platform.
Uber - Request a ride maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging from approximately 88K to 110K. Notably, downloads peaked at around 110K in early July and mid-September. Active users showed a slight fluctuation, starting at nearly 1.9M and reaching over 2M by late September.
Trainline: Train travel Europe experienced steady weekly downloads, consistently hovering between 72K and 83K throughout the quarter. Active users remained robust, fluctuating around the 3.2M to 3.4M mark, demonstrating consistent engagement.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic showed a positive trend in downloads, starting at about 58K and peaking at over 80K in mid-August. Active users saw an increase from approximately 3.3M to over 3.7M by mid-August, before settling around 3.4M at the end of September.
Bolt: Request a Ride maintained a consistent download rate, ranging from 51K to 57K weekly. Active users showed a gradual increase from around 460K to 500K, peaking in late September.
what3words: Navigation & Maps experienced varied download numbers, with a notable peak at approximately 60K in mid-July. Active users fluctuated between 165K and 195K, displaying a slight decline towards the end of the quarter.
