In the third quarter of 2024, the sandbox gaming category in the United Kingdom saw interesting trends across the top five applications on a unified platform. Here's a closer look at each game's performance, as tracked by Sensor Tower.
Roblox from Roblox Corporation showed strong financial results with weekly revenue peaking at approximately $1.2M in late July. The game also maintained a robust download rate, reaching 105.7K in the week of August 26. However, weekly active users saw a gradual decline from 5.3M at the start of July to 4.6M by the end of September.
Melon: Sandbox by Payge Ltd experienced a notable increase in revenue, peaking at $4.8K mid-August. Weekly downloads reached a high of 21.4K in early August, while active users fluctuated slightly but remained around 260K by the end of the quarter.
Minecraft: Play with Friends from Mojang saw a consistent weekly revenue stream, with figures hovering around $100K to $125K. Downloads showed a slight dip mid-quarter, with numbers around 8.4K to 10.8K. Active user numbers began at about 970K but dropped to approximately 766K by late September.
Block Craft 3D: Building Games by Wildlife Studios exhibited modest revenue growth, peaking at $1.3K in mid-August. Downloads were highest in early July at 11.8K and saw fluctuations throughout the quarter. Active users started at 98K, with a noticeable decrease by September end, reaching around 84K.
Lastly, Infinite Craft by Neal showed minimal revenue, with the highest being $66 in late July. Downloads peaked at 11.1K in the week of July 22, while active users saw a significant rise mid-quarter, peaking at 20.8K but then tapering off to about 9.1K by the quarter's end.
