In the third quarter of 2024, the top social apps in Russia displayed varied performance across downloads, revenue, and active users, as captured by Sensor Tower data.
TikTok saw a notable increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $10.6K in mid-August. Weekly downloads were consistently strong, reaching about 460K in early August, while active users remained stable, fluctuating around 36M throughout the quarter.
Likee - Short Video Community experienced a decline in weekly revenue, starting at $7.7K and decreasing to around $4.7K by the end of September. Downloads peaked at over 270K in the first week of August, and active users showed a slight downward trend, ending the quarter at approximately 12.6M.
VK: music, video, messenger maintained a strong revenue stream, with weekly earnings reaching up to $311K in late July. Downloads exceeded 230K in mid-August, while active user numbers increased slightly, finishing the quarter at around 77.4M.
Instagram showed a decline in weekly revenue, from $19K at the start of July to approximately $6.6K by September's end. Downloads were steady, peaking at nearly 193K in mid-August, and active users decreased to about 11.3M by the end of the quarter.
Blink — friends location did not generate revenue but demonstrated growth in user engagement. Downloads rose to 184K by mid-September, while active users increased from 1.4M to 1.8M by the quarter's end.
