During the third quarter of 2024, the top five social networking applications in Russia demonstrated varied performance metrics on a unified platform, according to data from Sensor Tower.
Telegram Messenger showed a steady weekly revenue, peaking at around $658K in late July before experiencing a slight decline to approximately $590K by the end of September. Downloads fluctuated, starting at roughly 403K and ending the quarter at about 343K. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 93M throughout the quarter.
WhatsApp Messenger maintained a consistent download trend, starting at approximately 287K and gradually decreasing to around 231K by the end of September. Active users increased from 102.6M to about 103.5M, indicating a growing user base throughout the quarter.
VK: social network, messenger experienced fluctuations in revenue, peaking at roughly $311K in late July and stabilizing near $264K by the end of September. Downloads saw a gradual decline from around 206K to 196K. Active users, however, increased slightly from 76M to 77.4M.
VK Messenger: Live chat, calls showed a notable increase in downloads, starting at about 38K and peaking at 351K in early September before declining to 206K. Revenue remained modest, with a slight peak at $1.1K. Active users increased from 4.5M to over 5M by the end of the quarter.
Blink — Friends circle saw a consistent rise in downloads, starting at 124K and peaking at 185K in mid-September before slightly decreasing. Active users increased steadily from 1.4M to 1.8M, reflecting a growing engagement on the platform.
