In the third quarter of 2024, the virtual pet app market in the United States showcased diverse performance patterns across the top five contenders. According to Sensor Tower data, these apps demonstrated varying trends in downloads, revenue, and weekly active users, reflecting their unique market positions and user engagement levels.
My Talking Tom 2 by Outfit7 Limited experienced a gradual increase in weekly revenue, starting at around $1.3K in early July and peaking at approximately $2.2K by the end of the month. However, the app saw a decline in downloads from 108K to about 65K by the end of September. The weekly active users fluctuated, starting at approximately 783K and closing the quarter at around 697K.
My Talking Angela 2, also from Outfit7 Limited, reported a downward trend in revenue from $5.8K to a low of $4.2K mid-quarter, before ending at around $5.9K. Downloads varied significantly, with a peak of 97K in late August. Active users started at 352K and gradually decreased to about 309K.
Pengu – Raise Virtual AI Pets from SLAY GmbH had a notable revenue start at $19.2K, which decreased to $12.6K in September, before a slight recovery to $17.4K. Downloads displayed a resurgence at the quarter's end, rising from 56K to an impressive 106K. Weekly active users showed erratic patterns, with a notable dip to 15K in early August and a recovery to 35K by the end of September.
My Talking Hank: Islands, another offering from Outfit7 Limited, faced a revenue decline, starting at $221 and experiencing a low mid-quarter, with a slight recovery to $277 by the end. Downloads decreased steadily from 171K to 19K over the quarter, and active users fell from 175K to 81K.
My Talking Tom Friends maintained a fairly stable performance with revenue starting at $9.7K and ending at $7.5K. Downloads showed a decline from 87K to 42K, while weekly active users decreased from 656K to 533K.
