In the fourth quarter of 2024, the carpooling and ridesharing app landscape in Ghana saw notable activity. Data from Sensor Tower reveals intriguing trends across the top five apps in this sector.
Bolt: Request a Ride maintained a robust presence with weekly downloads fluctuating between 18K and 30K. The app experienced a peak in downloads, reaching approximately 30K by the end of December. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, increasing steadily from around 257K to a high of 282K.
Yango: taxi, food, delivery showed a varied download pattern, initially decreasing but then recovering towards the end of the quarter with downloads rising to about 20K. Active users followed a similar trajectory, starting at 101K and ending near 95K.
Uber - Request a ride had a steady download rate, ranging from 6K to 9K, with active users slightly increasing from 128K to over 135K by December's end.
On the driver side, Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver saw modest download numbers, peaking at around 2.4K, while active users grew from 17.5K to over 18K.
GoRide Ghana experienced a significant spike in downloads early in the quarter, reaching over 13K, but saw a steep decline afterward, settling at lower numbers by the quarter's close.
