In the first quarter of 2025, the performance of carpooling and ridesharing apps on the Android platform in New Zealand showed varied trends. According to data from Sensor Tower, here's a detailed look at the top five apps:
Request a ride by Uber Technologies, Inc. experienced a gradual increase in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 2.2K in early January and peaking at around 3.3K in mid-February. The app maintained a strong presence with weekly active users growing from 90.3K at the start of the quarter to about 113.9K by the end of March.
Driver: Drive & Deliver also from Uber Technologies, Inc. saw moderate weekly download numbers, fluctuating between 600 and 740. Meanwhile, weekly active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 11K throughout the quarter.
DiDi Rider: Affordable rides by DiDi Global showed consistent download growth, beginning at 572 and rising to 708 by the end of March. Active users peaked at 5.7K in early February before stabilizing around 3.7K towards the quarter's end.
Grab - Taxi & Food Delivery from Grab Holdings experienced steady download activity, with numbers ranging between 540 and 680. Active users saw a slight increase, reaching nearly 16.9K by the end of the quarter.
YourRide - NZ’s No.1 Taxi App by TaxiCharge NZ Ltd showed a notable rise in weekly downloads, starting at 214 and reaching 546 by the end of March.
