In the first quarter of 2025, the performance of the top communication apps on Android in Belgium showed varied trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here’s a closer look at the metrics of each app, powered by Sensor Tower data.
WhatsApp Messenger experienced a steady download rate, starting the quarter with approximately 13.6K downloads, peaking at 15.2K mid-January, and stabilizing around 10K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated slightly, maintaining a robust base over 4.8M throughout the quarter.
Messenger from Meta Platforms, Inc. saw a decline in downloads from 12K at the beginning of January to around 7.6K by the end of March. Revenue began at $346, dipping to $183 in late January, with a peak of $292 in late March. Active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 2.6M.
Snapchat demonstrated strong revenue growth, starting at $10.1K and peaking at $11.3K in early March. Downloads showed a slight decline from 10.5K in mid-January to 8.8K by the end of March. Active users started at 831K, with fluctuations throughout the quarter, ending at approximately 807K.
Telegram showed a gradual increase in revenue, beginning at $5K and reaching $7.6K by the end of March. Downloads started strong at 8.8K, peaking at 9.3K in mid-January, and ended at 7.3K. Active users saw an increase from 710K to 704K over the quarter.
Finally, Signal Private Messenger had a notable increase in active users, starting at 194K and reaching 296K by quarter-end. Downloads peaked at 11.4K in March, showing a significant rise from the start of the quarter.
