State of AI Apps Report 2025 is Live!

In the first quarter of 2025, the consumer finance app sector in New Zealand saw notable trends in downloads and user engagement on the Android platform. Here’s a closer look at how the top five apps performed during this period.
ANZ goMoney New Zealand showed a consistent increase in downloads, starting at 1.5K in the first week of January and peaking at 3.2K in mid-March. Active users also experienced growth, climbing from 266K at the start of the quarter to 294K by the end of March.
ASB Mobile Banking had steady downloads, with numbers fluctuating between 1.1K and 2.5K throughout the quarter. Active users saw a decline from 215K in early January to 192K by the end of March.
Kiwibank Mobile Banking experienced a peak in downloads at 2.1K in early March. Active users showed a steady increase, reaching 144K by the end of the quarter.
Westpac One NZ Mobile Banking had a significant surge in downloads in early February, achieving 2.7K. Active users saw a steady rise, culminating in 103K by late March.
BNZ Mobile maintained a stable download rate, with a notable peak of 3K in late March. Active user numbers were consistent, ending the quarter at around 101K.
