In the first quarter of 2025, the word puzzle game category on Android in Ireland showcased some interesting trends. Here's a closer look at the performance of the top five games based on Sensor Tower data.
NYT Games: Word, Number, Logic from The New York Times Company saw a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $2.1K in early March. Weekly downloads remained relatively stable, with numbers hovering between 600 and 700. Active users maintained a steady presence, fluctuating slightly around 4.7K throughout the quarter.
Wordscapes by PeopleFun experienced a gradual decline in weekly downloads, starting the quarter at over 1.5K and tapering down to around 400 by the end of March. Revenue showed fluctuations, reaching a high of $699 at the start of the quarter, with a gradual decrease thereafter. Active users exhibited a similar downward trend, decreasing from 18K to just over 13K.
Zen Word® - Relax Puzzle Game from Oakever Games had a varied performance, with weekly downloads starting at 634 and decreasing to 310 by the end of March. Revenue peaked at $442 in early February before declining to $224 by the quarter's end. Active users showed a slight decline, starting at 9.6K and ending at 8.6K.
Wordscapes Solitaire, another title from PeopleFun, experienced a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting at 498 and ending at 251 by the end of March. Revenue remained relatively stable, with minor fluctuations, reaching a peak of $329 in early January. Active users saw a slight increase mid-quarter, peaking at 2.1K before settling at 1.9K.
Finally, Words of Wonders: Crossword by Fugo Games showed a decline in weekly downloads, starting from 1.3K and reducing to 491 by March end. Revenue saw a significant rise, reaching $475 in early March, before declining again. Active users slightly decreased from 6.9K to 5.5K over the quarter.
