During the first quarter of 2025, the top navigation and maps apps on iOS in the United Kingdom demonstrated varied performance in terms of downloads and active users. Here's a closer look at how each app fared, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Google Maps maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging from around 58K to 70K. The app's weekly active users increased from approximately 9.2M at the start of the quarter to 9.6M by the end, showcasing its continued popularity.
Waze Navigation & Live Traffic saw steady growth in downloads, starting at roughly 32K and peaking at 41K by the end of March. Active users fluctuated throughout the quarter, beginning at 2.9M and ending just under 3M.
Google Earth experienced a decline in downloads, with numbers dropping from 22K to about 18K. Despite this, active users remained relatively stable, averaging around 140K throughout the quarter.
what3words: Navigation & Maps had a notable increase in weekly downloads, particularly in March, reaching over 25K. Active users also rose, starting at 89K and closing the quarter at over 102K, indicating growing user engagement.
myRAC showed significant growth in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads surged from 10K to over 20K, while active users increased from 20K to over 31K, highlighting the app's expanding user base.
