In the first quarter of 2025, the top social networking apps on iOS in the United States showed varied performance trends. Here's a closer look at the weekly downloads, revenue, and active users for these leading apps, based on data from Sensor Tower.
Threads maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads starting at approximately 533K and peaking at around 740K by the end of March. The app's active users fluctuated slightly but ended the quarter with a rise from 28.6M to 29.1M.
WhatsApp Messenger exhibited steady download numbers, beginning at 319K and climbing to 366K. Weekly active users showed a consistent pattern, starting at 58.2M and experiencing a slight increase to 61.4M by the quarter's end.
小红书 – 你的生活兴趣社区 saw significant variations, with downloads spiking to over 2.3M in mid-January before settling to around 25K by March. Revenue trends were positive, reaching up to $93K, while active users decreased from 6.2M to 1.8M.
Telegram Messenger experienced a steady download rate, averaging around 270K weekly. Revenue peaked at approximately $770K in mid-February, and active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 23M.
Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out showed a gradual decline in downloads from 303K to 237K. Revenue peaked mid-quarter at approximately $1.6M, while active users increased slightly from 26.5M to 28M.
