In the first quarter of 2025, the carpooling and ridesharing app market in the United Kingdom showcased interesting trends across the top five applications on a unified platform. Here's a closer look at their performance as reported by Sensor Tower.
Uber - Request a ride saw a gradual increase in weekly downloads, starting at 82.9K in early January and rising to approximately 97.7K by the end of March. Meanwhile, weekly active users fluctuated, beginning at 4.9M and ending the quarter on a high note with around 5.9M users.
Bolt: Request a Ride experienced consistent growth in downloads, peaking at 44.6K in the last week of March. The app maintained a stable user base, with active users ranging from 1M to 1.2M over the quarter.
Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver had a more stable download pattern, with numbers hovering around 20K to 24K throughout the quarter. Active user numbers showed a slight upward trend, ending the quarter at approximately 394K.
Grab: Taxi Ride, Food Delivery downloads saw a decline from 21K to around 17.8K. However, active users increased steadily from 768K to over 832K by the end of the quarter.
Finally, inDrive. Save on city rides showed a mixed performance. Downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of 11.3K in late March, while active users increased from 58.9K to 64.6K.
