In the first quarter of 2025, the food delivery app landscape in New Zealand showcased some interesting trends. According to Sensor Tower, the performance of the top 5 food delivery services on a unified platform saw varied download and active user metrics.
DoorDash - Food Delivery experienced a notable increase in weekly downloads, starting at approximately 7.2K and peaking at 10.2K in mid-March. Concurrently, weekly active users grew from about 74.7K to a substantial 133.3K by the end of the quarter.
Uber Eats: Food & Groceries saw a more modest rise in weekly downloads, which started at around 4.9K, fluctuating through the quarter, and ending with approximately 4.9K again. Active users, however, showed a recovery trend, starting at 204.6K, dipping mid-quarter, and climbing back to 202.9K by March's end.
Delivereasy demonstrated a steady increase in weekly downloads, beginning at 1.8K and reaching 2.6K in March. The app's active user base remained relatively stable, with a slight increase from 15.5K to 17.3K throughout the quarter.
DoorDash - Dasher maintained a steady weekly download rate, oscillating around the 1.3K mark. Active users showed little fluctuation, remaining around 7.8K to 8.3K.
Lastly, StarSocial Rewards experienced a noticeable increase in downloads, beginning at 430 and climbing to over 2K by the end of March.
