In the second quarter of 2025, the performance of the top music and podcast apps on the Android platform in the United States showcased interesting trends. Here's a closer look at the top five applications, with data provided by Sensor Tower.
Spotify: Music and Podcasts saw a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at approximately $1.9M in late June. Weekly downloads fluctuated, starting at around 122K and decreasing to 100K by the end of the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating around 34M.
Pandora - Music & Podcasts experienced a climb in revenue, reaching about $1.6M mid-quarter. Downloads peaked at 84K in mid-April but settled around 65K by the end of June. Its active user base hovered around 11M.
Apple Music demonstrated consistent revenue growth, peaking at $300K in late June. Downloads showed an upward trend, reaching 56K by late May. Active users fluctuated slightly, ending the quarter with about 1.1M users.
SoundCloud: The Music You Love maintained a steady revenue stream, peaking at $145K in late June. Downloads decreased over the quarter, from 40K to 28K. Active users saw a slight decline, ending at around 2.2M.
iHeart: Music, Radio, Podcasts displayed a gradual increase in revenue, reaching $125K by the end of June. Downloads rose significantly, peaking at 35K. Active users experienced fluctuations, ending the quarter with approximately 2M users.
