In the second quarter of 2025, the top tax preparation and planning apps on the iOS platform in the United States showed varied performance trends. Here's a closer look at their weekly downloads, revenue, and active user metrics.
TurboTax: File Your Tax Return, published by Intuit Inc., experienced fluctuating weekly revenue, with a peak of $18K in mid-April and a low of $11K at the end of April. Downloads started strong at 294K in mid-April but declined steadily to around 5.4K by the end of June. Active users mirrored this trend, starting at 1.9M and decreasing to approximately 204K by the quarter's end.
The IRS2Go app, from the Internal Revenue Service, maintained zero revenue. Weekly downloads peaked at 61K in mid-April and gradually declined to 8.7K by late June. Active users followed a similar downward pattern, starting at 478K and ending at 125K.
MyBlock, published by HRB Tax Group, Inc., also reported no revenue. Initial downloads were at 65K and decreased to about 2.5K by the end of June. Active users decreased from 229K in early April to 35K by the quarter's close.
Beem: Better than Cash Advance, by Line Financial, Pbc, had a consistent download rate, maintaining around 12K to 14K weekly. Active users started at 43K and declined to 14K by the end of June.
Finally, H&R Block Tax Prep: File Taxes from HRB Tax Group, Inc., with minimal revenue, saw downloads peak at 49K in mid-April, dropping to 45 by the end of June. Active users decreased from 72K to about 4K.
