The second quarter of 2025 saw notable trends among the top books applications in the United States, as reported by Sensor Tower. Here's a closer look at the performance of the leading apps:
Audible: Audiobooks & Podcasts from Audible, Inc. experienced fluctuations in weekly revenue, starting at around $10.5M and peaking at $11.2M in early May, before declining to approximately $7M by the end of June. Downloads remained relatively stable, hovering around 140K weekly, while active users maintained a strong presence, averaging around 20M throughout the quarter.
Libby, the library app by OverDrive, Inc. showed consistent download numbers, starting at over 106K and climbing to a peak of 111K in early June. Active users also displayed a steady increase, reaching over 10M by the quarter's end.
Amazon Kindle from AMZN Mobile LLC saw a gradual rise in weekly revenue, starting at $164K and ending the quarter at $187K. Downloads increased from 82K to nearly 90K, while active users fluctuated, peaking at over 9M mid-quarter.
Goodreads: Book Reviews maintained a steady download rate, with weekly numbers ranging from 42K to 56K. Active users saw a slight increase, reaching over 4M by the end of June.
Hoopla Digital by Midwest Tape, LLC experienced fluctuating downloads, peaking at 53K in late May. Active users showed a slight decline, starting at over 2.2M and ending the quarter at around 1.9M.
