In the second quarter of 2025, the top news and magazines applications in Switzerland experienced varied performance trends across downloads, active users, and revenue. Here’s a closer look at the top five applications based on Sensor Tower data.
SRF News - Nachrichten saw an impressive spike in weekly downloads, peaking at approximately 10.6K in late May. Active users grew steadily, reaching around 366K by the end of May, although revenue remained non-existent throughout the quarter.
X (Formerly Twitter) experienced fluctuating weekly revenue, with figures hovering between $13K and $20K. Downloads remained relatively stable, with a modest peak of 3K in mid-June. Active users consistently increased, finishing the quarter at around 309K.
20 Minuten - Nachrichten maintained a steady download rate, peaking at 2.3K in mid-June. Active user numbers showed a positive trend, reaching approximately 395K in mid-May.
Upday | Local & World News demonstrated a significant increase in downloads towards the end of the quarter, reaching 2.8K. Active users also saw growth, ending June with nearly 4K users.
NZZ showed strong revenue performance, peaking at nearly $100K in late June. Downloads remained consistent, while active users increased steadily, reaching about 58K by the end of the quarter.
