In the second quarter of 2025, the top social apps on the unified platform in the United States showcased significant trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at each app's performance based on Sensor Tower's data.
TikTok - Videos, Shop & LIVE experienced a notable fluctuation in weekly revenue, peaking at around $30.8M in late April, before a gradual decline to $27.9M by late June. Weekly downloads started strong at approximately 1.2M in early April but saw a decrease to about 886K by the end of the quarter. Despite this, active users consistently increased, reaching over 103M by the end of June.
Instagram maintained a stable revenue stream, with a peak of $907K at the end of April and ending June at $875K. Downloads showed a gradual increase, beginning at 698K and rising to 775K by the quarter's end. Active users remained steady, with slight fluctuations, ending the quarter at 123M.
Threads had no revenue reported but saw consistent download activity, starting at 1M downloads and ending at 827K. Active users increased from 39.8M to over 44M by the end of June, indicating growing engagement.
Facebook showed stable revenue trends, with a slight increase from $902K to $852K. Downloads fluctuated, beginning at 527K and ending at 507K. Active users remained robust, with a minor decrease but still above 219M by the end of June.
Flip - Watch, Create, Monetize reported no revenue but had a surge in downloads early in the quarter, peaking at 310K in April, before dropping to 77K by June. Active users increased significantly in April, with a high of 1M, then leveled out to 708K by the end of the quarter.
