In the third quarter of 2025, the performance of fast food and fast casual restaurant apps in South Africa showed varied trends across downloads and active users. Here’s a detailed look at the top five apps based on Sensor Tower data.
McDonald’s demonstrated consistent weekly downloads, peaking at about 48.6K in late August. Active users fluctuated, starting at around 672K and maintaining a similar level towards the end of September.
The Spur Family Club app saw a steady download rate, averaging around 27K weekly. Active user numbers were more dynamic, climbing from 269K in early July to over 307K by the end of September.
KFC South Africa experienced a notable decline in downloads from 35.2K in early July to a low of 17.6K by late July, before rebounding to 28.8K in late September. Active users followed a similar trend, starting at 561K and dipping to around 336K in September.
The Debonairs Pizza South Africa app witnessed a gradual increase in downloads, reaching 25.5K in the final week of September. Active users also grew steadily from 249K to nearly 296K throughout the quarter.
Lastly, Steers South Africa showed fluctuating downloads, with a significant rise to 14.5K by the end of September. Active users began at 59.7K and concluded the quarter at approximately 50K.
