In the third quarter of 2025, social apps in New Zealand experienced varied performance metrics in terms of downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the top five apps based on Sensor Tower data.
TikTok - Videos, Shop & LIVE showed a robust increase in weekly revenue, starting at about $146K and peaking at $221K by the end of September. Downloads saw a gradual rise from 7.9K to 9.6K, while active users fluctuated, peaking at 1.08M before slightly declining to 998K.
Bigo Live - Live Streaming App experienced steady weekly revenue, hovering around $13K to $17K, with slight dips and peaks throughout the quarter. Downloads saw a downward trend, starting at 1K and ending at about 721. Active users varied slightly, maintaining around 17K to 19K.
Facebook maintained a consistent revenue pattern, mostly staying in the $7K to $9K range. Downloads increased towards the end of the quarter, reaching 12K. Active users remained strong, fluctuating between 1.68M and 1.73M.
Grindr - Gay Dating & Chat showed stable revenue growth, starting at $13K and ending at nearly $15K. Downloads were consistent around 400, while active users hovered around 3.7K.
Chamet - Live Chat & Party faced challenges with a decline in revenue from $5.4K to $2.5K and downloads dropping from 99 to 26. Active users followed a similar trend, decreasing from 544 to 478.
