The first quarter of 2023 has been an interesting period for idler games on iOS in the United States. Sensor Tower's data offers us a glimpse into how these games have fared in terms of downloads, revenue, and weekly active users.
Gold and Goblins: Idle Games by AppQuantum Publishing Ltd saw a decrease in revenue, going from around $432k in the last week of December to approximately $216k by the end of March. Downloads for the game peaked in early January with over 33k but then saw a significant drop, reaching a low of around 2k in late February before recovering to nearly 20k towards the end of March. The weekly active users followed a similar downward trend from around 100k to roughly 78k active users.
DianDian Interactive Holding's Idle Mafia experienced fluctuating revenue through the quarter, starting at about $120k and reaching a peak of $170k in mid-March before settling at around $115k. The game's downloads remained relatively stable, hovering between 10k and 14k, while weekly active users saw a slight decrease from approximately 137k to 113k.
The Office: Somehow We Manage, developed by Eastside Games, had a revenue performance that varied, with numbers ranging from $87k to $127k. Downloads for the game showed consistency, with numbers mostly staying between 15k and 18k, and weekly active users experienced a slight increase, moving from about 37k to 39k by the end of March.
Lessmore UG's Eatventure showed a positive trend in revenue, starting at around $61k and rising to nearly $98k in the last week of March. Downloads for the game had a significant spike in late February, reaching over 130k from a previous average of around 60k. The weekly active users count also increased, starting at around 55k and climbing to over 71k.
Lastly, Cats & Soup from publisher hidea, displayed a revenue that saw highs and lows, peaking at around $69k in late February. The game's downloads peaked in mid-February with over 84k but ended the quarter at around 38k. In terms of active users, the game started with around 68k and ended with approximately 71k, showing stability in its user base.
