As the year 2020 came to a close, the real-time strategy (RTS) genre continued to captivate gamers on Android in Australia. Sensor Tower's data offers insights into how five top RTS applications performed in the fourth quarter.
Stick War: Legacy by Max Games Studios saw a steady trend in downloads, starting from 1.6M in October to over 2.2M in December. The weekly active users gradually decreased from 7.5M to 7.4M over the same period, while revenue peaked at $862K in the week of December 21st before slightly dropping to $719K by the end of December.
Supercell's Clash Royale experienced fluctuating revenue throughout the quarter, with a notable peak at $24.7M in the first week of October and a subsequent dip to $15.9M by December's end. Downloads remained relatively consistent, hovering around 1.6M to 1.9M, and weekly active users saw a slight decrease from 76.5M to 67.3M.
ToukaGames' Draw Defence had no reported revenue but showcased a significant initial interest with downloads starting at 6.1M in late September, then declining to 1.4M by the end of December. Active users mirrored this trend, starting strong at 13.6M and falling to 4.7M.
Fastone Games HK's Island War showed a remarkable growth in revenue, from a modest $2 in mid-November to $3K by the final week of 2020. Downloads and weekly active users followed a similar upward trajectory, with downloads jumping from 26 to 6.2M and active users rising from 15 to 9.6M.
Lastly, Fastone Games HK's Art of War: Legions generated consistent revenue, with a high of $10.8M in early November. Downloads and weekly active users saw a slight decline, with downloads starting at 1.7M and ending at 1.1M, while active users decreased from 24.4M to 18.6M.
